Here is the first page of a project called ‘Blue Shade’ (sans dialogue balloons and text) written by twin siblings Steven and Theresa Romano. This page went through a lot of changes and probably took a lot more time then it should have. Most of the time was spent less on the drawing, but more on the panel-to- panel storytelling. For example in panels 3 & 4, when the two constables discover what has become of this poor girl do you see what they see and then their reaction, or their reaction and then what they see? I elected to show the constables’ reaction first, informing the reader how he or she should react to the ensuing panel. Hopefully it makes for better drama.
At some point I’d like to post the process I use to create a comic page and show the various stages a piece goes through before its finished. I’m always trying to streamline the process and be more efficient with my time so I can create the best work in the time allotted. Heh—me and every other artist, right?

“IT’S LIKE SOMETHING OUT OF A DREAM.”

Shown above is a panel from Grim Fairy Tales Presents: Wonderland issue 6. The book hit the stands just before Christmas, which made it a great stocking stuffer for my grandparents!

I had met Zenescope’s art director Anthony Spay at the New York Comic Con this year and after a two page tryout (which ended up as pages 4 and 5 of this issue) I got the gig!

Check out a preview here!

Here’s a photo from this past weekend; that’s me on the right sharing a table with Manny Mederos on the left. Manny is an amazing guy and a great artist. Check out his site here!
It honestly was a great three days- I got to see some old friends from my SVA days. It had been far too long since I reconnected with my friend and mentor Phil Jimenez and I’m looking forward to catching up with him. And to top it all off I got some delicious homemade cookies from Mallory Viscardi!

Check out these photos from the opening night of First Contact: UFOS, Aliens And Broadway. A special thanks to all my friends and family who attended the reception — it was a night to remember!

This drawing is for James; his amazing wife Mallory wanted to put together a tribute for his grandfather, who sadly passed away last week. Please check out their website here!
