From an early age, I was captivated by science fiction, cartoons, comic books, and anime. I couldn't get enough of their complex stories, mature themes, and vast visuals. All this later inspiring me to create epic worlds and characters of my own.
As a kid, I wanted to live in those worlds. As an adult, I want to build them. The question became, how can I tell those stories with complete creative control?
I enrolled in SVA and studied Cartooning and Illustration. Within a short time, I realized, the amount of work that goes into sequential art. It was laborious but it gave me the greatest creative freedom. Your budget for cinematic sets, hundreds of extras, and big explosions is limitless. Want to make the perfect casting choice for your lead role? Done.
And the best part... it's an active medium that’s always in communication with the reader. The reader is always adding the action between the panels. It's the creator and the reader that bring the story to life.
Since graduating SVA in 2009, I’ve worked as a freelance artist for The Smithsonian Channel, Zenescope, and Comicbook.com. When I’m not drawing at the art board, you can probably find me working on an old Jeep.
